✅ Condition of Entry

By registering and participating in Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza, you agree to all terms and conditions outlined above.
Participation in the competition is deemed as full acceptance of these rules.

🚫 No Refunds or Transfers

Once entries have been received and processed,
no refunds or transfers will be given under any circumstances.

🌐 Event Contingency & COVID-19 Policy

🔄 Changes Due to Unforeseen Circumstances
Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza reserves the right to:
Add or remove competition days
Relocate venues
Transition to online video submissions
These changes may occur due to unforeseen circumstances outside our control, including COVID-19 restrictions.
➡️ Refunds will not be issued if alternative options are provided and the service can still be fulfilled.

🔁 Transfers & Cancellations
If an event is cancelled, entries may be transferred to any Ooh La La competition within 12 months of the original entry date.
Transfers are valid for 12 months from the time of original submission.
In the case of natural disasters or venue unavailability, Ooh La La reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the event. Alternate arrangements will be offered where possible.

🦠 COVID-19 Specific Policy
In the event of government restrictions or venue issues due to COVID-19 (including border closures), the above terms and conditions still apply.
By registering, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
We will, in most cases, prioritise rescheduling the event rather than cancelling altogether.

🛡️ Liability Waiver
Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza takes full care, but accepts no responsibility for:
Injuries sustained at our events
Lost, stolen, or damaged property

⚖️ Final Decision Clause

Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza reserves the right to make the final decision on all matters — including those not specifically covered in these rules and conditions.

⚠️ Risk & Liability Disclaimer
All persons entering and performing at venues where Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza is held do so at their own risk.
This includes:
Competitors
Guests and visitors
Volunteers
Employees
Helpers and support personnel
Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza and its representatives, volunteers, and agents accept no responsibility for:
Loss or damage to any personal property
Injury or death of any attendee while present at the eisteddfod
By attending or participating, you acknowledge and accept this condition.

❌ Withdrawal & No-Show Policy

Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza maintains a strict 100% cancellation fee.

If you withdraw or do not attend, for any reason, your entry will not be refunded or transferred.
This includes withdrawal due to:
- Medical reasons
- Injury
- COVID-19 or isolation
- Personal circumstances

By registering for the event, you agree to these terms and waive any claim for a refund or transfer under these conditions.

If the event is proceeding as planned and you choose not to participate, your entry fee remains non-refundable and non-transferable.

✅ Agreement to Rules

By entering our eisteddfod, you agree to comply with all rules laid down by Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza.
Breaching the rules may result in penalties or disqualification.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parental Supervision

Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising their children at all times during the event.

🩰 Competitor Requirements

Competitors must enter and compete in their correct age group.
No dancing below age is permitted.
Competitors must be ready to perform in the order listed in the program, unless arrangements are made with Sheree or Michael.

🔄 Combining or Cancelling Sections

Ooh La La reserves the right to combine or cancel any sections as necessary.

✏️ Amending Entries

Double-check your entry before submitting.
Changes after submission will incur a $30.00 admin fee.

🎵 Music Policy

All music must be uploaded prior to the competition.
NO MUSIC = NO DANCE.

Late uploads or changes to music will incur a $30.00 admin fee.
Please bring a backup copy on your phone or USB on the day.

⏱️ Time Limits
Solos/Duos/Trios: 2 minutes 30 seconds
Groups: 4 minutes

🧑‍⚖️ Adjudicator

The adjudicator’s decision is final.

🌟 Who Can Enter?

This event is open to amateurs only — individuals whose primary source of income is not from performing or teaching dance.

📹 No Videoing

Strictly no videoing allowed during performances.

📽️ Video Recording

An independent video operator will be available to record performances on DVD.
This operator is not affiliated with Ooh La La Dance Extravaganza.
Please speak to the video operator before your event if you wish to order a recording.

🚫 No Photography or Personal Videoing

Strictly no photography or personal video recording is permitted in the hall or dressing areas.
This includes mobile phones, cameras, and tablets.
Thank you for respecting the privacy and safety of all performers.

Showcase Qualifying & Dancer of the Year (DOTY) Info

🌟 Showcase Qualifying Locations

Please check individual event listings for qualifying status.
Note: Singleton events are not qualifiers.

🏆 How to Qualify for Nationals

All acts placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the following categories will qualify for Showcase Nationals held in January on the Gold Coast:

Solos
Duos

👑 Dancer of the Year (DOTY)

To be considered for DOTY, dancers must enter the DOTY section (any genre).
Repeats are allowed — the same routine may be used.
This is a qualifying-only section — no awards will be presented at the time.
The adjudicator selects qualifiers based on performance.

At every competition, 4 x $100 Showcase gift vouchers will be awarded!

🎉 Showcase Nationals – Gold Coast

All qualifying acts are invited to compete at the Nationals on the Gold Coast.
Over $180,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs!

🏅 Prize Guidelines – Solos, Duos, Trios & Groups

Prizes are awarded based on the number of competitors in a section:

Number of Competitors Award Given

1 – 1st Place Trophy

4 – 2nd Place Medal

7 – 3rd Place Medal

10 – 4th Place Medal

13 – 5th Place Medal

🔹 Highly Commended (HC):
Awarded at the adjudicator's discretion — the number of HC ribbons (if any) is determined by the adjudicator per section.

🔹 Adjudicator's Decision:
Final placing is up to the adjudicator’s ruling.
The above table serves as a guideline, not a guarantee.

🎭 Groups

The same prize ratio applies as above, with the following difference:

Trophies are awarded for group placings
Ribbons are presented to each performer in the group

🗂️ Programs

All event programs are uploaded to our website.
It is the competitor’s responsibility to download the program once released.
Programs are typically uploaded one month prior to each event.

🌀 Improvisation Attire

All dancers in Improvisation Sections must wear plain dancewear — no costumes, logos, or decorative embellishments.

👯 Group (Troupe) Guidelines

🧒 Age Eligibility

Age is determined as of 1 January 2025.
Groups must consist of at least 4 competitors.
Each troupe may include up to 3 dancers who are no more than 12 months older than the section’s age group.

🔁 Dance Repetition

Dancers may repeat a routine in Ooh la la's Got Talent..

🚫 Section Integrity

No competing out of section is allowed under any circumstance.

🎓 ENTRY LEVELS EXPLAINED

Novice (Specially Restricted):
For dancers who have never won in that genre.
(Only available in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Classical Ballet, and all Tap combined)
Restricted:
For dancers who have won in Novice.
Open:
For dancers who have won in Restricted.

👩‍🏫 Teacher Entry Policy

Each dance school is entitled to free entry for two teachers per day.
All teachers must present a valid WWCC (Working With Children Check) or Blue Card upon entry.
No free entry is permitted for teachers under 18 years of age.
